O’shaquie “Ice Water” Foster has come a long way from prospect to disappointment to incarcerated all the way back to prospect, and now a prospect on the verge of much, much bigger and better things and perhaps a world title shot in 2021. In 2017 Foster was sitting in the Orange County, Texas jail watching boxing wondering if he would get another chance to resume his once-promising career. Foster once a promising young upstart that burst onto the professional scene in 2012, after being an alternate on the Olympic team, running off eight straight victories to start his career and finally getting a big chance on Showtime one that he would come up just short in against Samuel Teah. bouncing back he scored two more impressive victories including stopping Lavisas Wiliams, setting up his next big opportunity. Boxing News: Foster TKOs Roman; Herandez, Zepeda win » December 1, 2020

Foster destroyed Roman beating him up over nine lopsided rounds. The exact same amount of rounds it took WBC world champ Miguel Berchelt to stop Roman back in November of 2018. So it’s not unreasonable to suggest that Foster is ready for Berchelt or any of the world champs at 130. Foster signed a promotional deal in 2019 with hall of famer Lou DiBella who has worked with the other major promoters to secure his fighter’s big fights. The big fights are out there to be made, Jamel Herring, Shakur Stevenson both hold belts in the weight class and would be interesting style matchups. As is Oscar Valdez and Miguel Berchelt. If a world title fight is not next for the 27-year old. Being promoted by Lou Dibella’s also gives him a seamless route to a Tevin Farmer fight. Joe Cordina and Xavier Martinez are two other young blue-chip prospects in the division who would make for interesting scraps with Foster. Regardless of who is next for the resilient Texan, he is not far off from a world title he has totally redeemed and rejuvenated his career and has fought himself back into relevancy in 2020
